Hong Kong fintech Reap has launched a managed fraud and risk service for companies operating card programs, extending its card-issuing infrastructure into transaction monitoring and fraud operations.

Reap Sentry is designed to configure fraud rules, screen card authorizations in real time, investigate alerts, process chargebacks and report confirmed fraud to Visa, according to the company.

The service is intended for card-program operators that do not want to build a separate fraud-monitoring stack or maintain a dedicated in-house fraud team.

Fraud operations through the same card stack

Reap said clients can connect to Sentry through a single Reap API. The company handles controls around the authorization layer it operates and observes, while customers remain responsible for the cardholder relationship and first-party fraud entry points such as onboarding, identity verification and account access.

The service also processes and represents chargebacks submitted by clients, reports confirmed fraud and provides program-performance reporting on an agreed schedule. Reap said controls can be reviewed and adjusted as a card program evolves.

The launch broadens the infrastructure Reap offers to fintechs and other businesses building card products. Earlier this month, the company launched a virtual asset ledger that allows clients to connect bitcoin and other virtual-asset balances to card spending.

Card infrastructure moves deeper into risk management

Fraud management is a significant operational requirement for companies issuing cards because transaction decisions need to happen in real time while suspicious activity, disputes and chargebacks continue after authorization.

By packaging those functions as a managed service, Reap is positioning risk operations alongside the issuing and payment infrastructure it already provides.

Reap described Sentry as a first-of-its-kind service for card programs. TNGlobal has not independently verified that market-wide claim, but the product launch itself and the functions described are set out in the company’s announcement.
