The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced Monday a S$220 million ($173 million) commitment over three years under the renewed Financial Sector Technology and Innovation Scheme (FSTI 4.0) to strengthen Singapore’s FinTech ecosystem and accelerate innovation and technology adoption across the financial sector.
FSTI 4.0 builds on a strong foundation of Singapore’s FinTech sector, which is now home to more than 1,800 FinTech firms, employing close to 10,000 professionals across technology, data, artificial intelligence (AI), compliance, cybersecurity and business roles. FinTech investments in Singapore hit S$2.9 billion in 2025, MAS said in a statement.
FSTI 4.0 is designed around four goals – anchoring and scaling innovation activities in Singapore; accelerating the development, adoption, and deployment of financial technologies, with a focus on frontier technologies; developing technology infrastructure to position the financial sector to innovate and adopt new technology solutions; and supporting talent development and attraction for Singapore’s FinTech ecosystem.
Together, these four goals reflect MAS’ commitment to building a financial sector that is innovative, resilient and globally competitive.
FSTI 4.0 will be implemented through six tracks spanning institutional innovation, AI adoption, infrastructure and platforms and talent development.
These include manpower track; institution project track: AI Pathfinder track; infrastructure & platform track; center of excellence track; MAS FinTech Awards track.
The manpower track supports FinTech firms in building a pipeline of young talent for Singapore’s FinTech ecosystem, by co-funding the Internship stipend.
A new FinTech Internship Portal, fintechinternships.sg, managed by the Singapore FinTech Association (SFA), will connect FinTech firms with students from Institutes of Higher Learning for internships across business, technology and other roles.
MAS aims to support at least 1,000 FinTech internship opportunities over the next three years.
The institution project track supports Singapore-based financial institutions (FIs) and FinTech firms in developing and deploying innovative solutions, with a focus on frontier technologies such as AI, Distributed Ledger Technology and Quantum Technology.
The AI Pathfinder track supports the scaling and adoption of market-ready AI FinTech solutions listed on PathFin.ai.
It enables FIs to deploy these solutions to foster greater collaboration between these FIs and AI solution providers.
The infrastructure & platform track supports industry-wide infrastructure and platforms that improve sector efficiency, productivity and innovation across financial sector.
Building on the success of past investments, the track aims to strengthen Singapore’s role in shaping global financial standards and interoperability frameworks.
The center of excellence track aims to anchor innovative functions of leading global financial institutions (FIs) and FinTech firms in Singapore, bringing together specialized talent and expertise, while supporting the growth of emerging technologies such as AI, quantum computing and digital assets.
The MAS FinTech Awards track continues to raise Singapore’s global profile as a FinTech hub through the Singapore FinTech Festival (SFF) FinTech Excellence Awards and the Global FinTech Hackcelerator (GFH).
As a new enhancement, MAS will introduce the GFH Scale-up Grant to further develop and validate eligible finalists’ solutions after the competition, helping them attract private investment, scale their business and strengthen their presence in Singapore.
FSTI 4.0 will support FinTech firms at every stage of growth, from developing new solutions to scaling regionally and globally.
Through investments in infrastructure, frontier technologies and local talent, the scheme will strengthen Singapore’s position as a vibrant and competitive FinTech hub, said the statement.
