Singapore transport operator ComfortDelGro Corporation Limited, through KBH Metro Partner, its joint venture with RATP Dev, announced Monday that the consortium has been selected to operate and maintain the Copenhagen Metro under a contract valued at DKK17 billion ($2.7 billion).
The selection follows a competitive international tender and entrusts KBH Metro Partner with supporting Metroselskabet’s ambition to deliver a metro that remains safe, reliable, sustainable, and future-ready as Copenhagen continues to grow, ComfortDelGro said in a statement.
The contract covers the operation and maintenance of the fully automated network, including four lines, 44 stations and 43km of track, and will support key modernization and renewal projects planned over the coming years.
It will run for 12 years until 2039, with an option to extend by a further three years.
The Copenhagen Metro is a high-capacity, driverless system that runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In 2025, it carried 135 million passengers, a record for the network.
Contract signing is expected in September 2026, following completion of the statutory standstill period.

ComfortDelGro Chairman Mark Greaves said growing their international public transport portfolio remains a core part of the group’s strategy.

This is the third ComfortDelGro – RATP Dev collaboration on automated metro projects.
RATP Dev, a subsidiary of the RATP Group, is one of the world’s leading operators of high-capacity automated metros.
It brings deep experience from complex urban networks in Paris, Lyon, Riyadh, Doha, and Sydney, including the extension and re-automation of Paris Metro Line 14 and the opening of Riyadh Metro Lines 1 and 2.
The group has built strong expertise in advanced technology, predictive maintenance and live-network upgrades to sustain high service quality and operating efficiency.
ComfortDelGro said it brings a proven record in automated metro operations, asset reliability and customer-centric innovation.
Through its listed subsidiary SBS Transit, the Group operates Singapore’s North East Line, the world’s first fully automated heavy-rail metro; the Downtown Line, among the most reliable metro systems globally; and the fully automated Sengkang-Punggol Light Rail Transit.
It is also mobilizing the upcoming Jurong Region Line. Outside Singapore, it operates Auckland One Rail in New Zealand and the Stockholm Metro, and is mobilizing Grand Paris Express Line 15 South.
The selection extends ComfortDelGro’s growing international rail footprint and builds on the group’s first entry into Scandinavia through Connecting Stockholm, which was awarded the Stockholm Metro operations and maintenance contract in January 2024.
With this selection, ComfortDelGro’s rail network in operation and under mobilization will exceed 420km — around five times the network when it first expanded its rail business overseas.
