The United States-based Apple will open its Apple Education Hub, its first Vietnam education center, to train employees of its supplier companies, with courses starting this autumn through a partnership with Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

In a statement on Thursday, Apple said the center would combine online and hands-on instruction, with technical courses in smart-manufacturing fundamentals, robotics and automation, alongside professional-development programs in leadership and production-line supervision. The aim is to help supplier workers advance in their current roles or move into new careers.

The expanded curriculum will run at more than 30 supplier sites across Vietnam, covering Swift programming, automation, and smart manufacturing, Apple said. Apple did not disclose other details of the investment.

The education center is the latest initiative under Apple’s $50 million global Supplier Employee Development Fund, starting in 2022. The fund has supported more than nine million education and training sessions to date. More than 108,000 supplier employees had taken part in its Swift programming courses since 2017, Apple noted.

It is Apple’s fourth education hub in the world, after those in the United States, China, and India.

Sarah Chandler, Apple’s vice president for environment and supply chain innovation, said the expansion would give thousands of workers access to training in important skills. Le Anh Tuan, president of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said the university strives to help build Vietnam’s pool of high-quality technology workers.

As of 2024, Apple invested over $16 billion in Vietnam, via its supplier network in the country.
