Singapore banking group DBS and US payment firm Stripe have announced a strategic partnership to accelerate the growth of agentic commerce and cross-border payments in Asia.

By combining DBS’ banking capabilities and pan-Asian connectivity with Stripe’s global programmable financial services, both institutions aim to help businesses collect, move and manage funds more seamlessly across markets, the duo said in a statement on Thursday.

The partnership will also explore jointly developing agentic AI capabilities for DBS customers to transact more efficiently and securely.

This comes at a time when AI agents are increasingly helping consumers and businesses discover products and complete purchases, with AI agents projected to orchestrate up to $5 trillion of global consumer commerce by 2030.

As agentic commerce grows more prevalent, the duo see customers will require trusted platforms that enable AI-powered transactions to be conducted quickly and securely.

The partnership will allow Stripe to leverage DBS’ digital banking capabilities to provide merchants on its platform with enhanced cross-border payments capabilities.

This includes using DBS’ money movement and cash management solutions to help Stripe merchants collect payments and to help Stripe optimize liquidity and cash positions across its corporate entities.

Collectively, these initiatives will support Stripe’s transformation into a full stack provider of financial infrastructure and ongoing expansion across Asia.

DBS will also explore leveraging Stripe’s global platform and embedded finance solutions to expand the bank’s cross-border network, enabling its institutional clients to connect with more customers around the world.

It is noted that the partnership addresses a growing need among businesses in Asia for trusted partners that can provide access to multiple payment and currency corridors.

Asia’s outbound cross-border payments are projected to surge to $24 trillion by 2033, accounting for 36 percent of global outbound flows and almost double that of 2025 volumes ($13.5 trillion).

“Asia’s digital economy is entering a new phase of innovation and growth. AI agents are gaining traction and businesses of all sizes are broadening their reach into new markets around the world,

“This partnership enables us to continue delivering differentiated solutions for customers and reflects our shared commitment towards helping businesses in Asia build, scale and compete globally,” said Tan Su Shan, Chief Executive Officer, DBS.

Fran Ryan, Chief Business Officer, Stripe, said that ten years ago, Stripe launched in Singapore to support Asia’s earliest internet builders.

“Today, more than half of our users in the region are selling cross border. By combining Stripe’s global financial infrastructure and product innovation with DBS’ trusted banking expertise and extensive regional network, we look forward to helping even more businesses in Asia transform into global champions,” he added.
