Zig by ComfortDelGro (Zig, 劲) announced Thursday that it is investing over S$10 million ($7.87 million) in its Private Hire Vehicle (PHV) fleet with a range of BYD electric and hybrid vehicles supplied by Vantage Automotive.
Zig said in a statement that this investment grows the firm’s PHV fleet, supporting driver choice, service availability, and its broader shift towards a hybrid taxi and private hire model.
It said this reflects the firm’s strategy of transforming its point-to-point business from a taxi-led operator to a hybrid fleet and platform model.
With rising demand for PHVs among professional drivers, Zig said it is optimizing its fleet mix to meet hirer preferences while strengthening service availability on the Zig app.
The new vehicles will comprise a mix of fully electric and hybrid models, including the BYD SEAL 6 DM-i and BYD M6.
This supports Zig’s fleet renewal and electrification efforts.
Hirers will also have access to preferential charging rates through sister company CDG Energy, which operates one of Singapore’s largest charging networks, and maintenance support from ComfortDelGro Engineering’s network of automotive service workshops across Singapore.
Zig said the firm continues to maintain Singapore’s largest taxi network of more than 7,600 vehicles, while scaling its private hire ecosystem to give hirers more options.
Its private hire driver base grew 28 percent in 2025, and more than 4,000 drivers are on the Zig app today.
“We have seen strong demand from our hirers for PHVs, and this investment reflects our commitment to meeting those needs. Investing in our PHV fleet gives hirers more options and strengthens our ability to support mobility demand across Singapore,
“Hirers also come into an ecosystem that already supports them and enables them to . That includes preferential charging rates with CDG Energy and maintenance support from ComfortDelGro Engineering, so they can take on electric vehicles with confidence,” said Michael Huang, Head of Singapore Point-to-Point Mobility Business.
Adelene Tan, Managing Director of Vantage Automotive, said as the authorized distributor of BYD vehicles in Singapore, Vantage Automotive is pleased to support Zig by ComfortDelGro with a range of electric and hybrid vehicles that meet the evolving needs of the point-to-point transport industry.
“We look forward to working closely with Zig as it grows its private hire fleet and accelerates its electrification ambitions,” she added.
The new vehicles will be progressively introduced into Zig’s private hire fleet and made available to hirers in the coming months, according to the statement.
