China’s Ant Group, the operator of Alipay, has upgraded its physician platform “Haodf for Doctor” into “AQ for Doctor,” an AI-powered workstation for physicians covering online consultations, patient management, clinical decision support, and medical research.
In a statement on Wednesday, Ant Group said the platform connects to AQ, Ant Group’s AI health app serving more than 100 million users as of August 2026. AQ for Doctor now features more than 300,000 verified physicians, Ant Group added.
The upgrade opens AQ for Doctor to hospitals and healthcare institutions nationwide for the first time, allowing them to establish and operate their own online hospitals on the platform as institutional partners.
Previously, only physicians affiliated with Haodf’s online hospital could provide consultations through the platform. Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center has become the first hospital to join under the new model.
AQ for Doctor introduces two core AI capabilities. The AI Doctor Agent, available around the clock, conducts pre-visit interviews, gathers and organizes patient medical histories, answers routine health questions, generates follow-up summaries, and synchronizes them with patient health records.
The AI Medical Assistant enables physicians to search medical knowledge through text or voice, providing evidence-based references from a database of more than 60 million medical publications, clinical guidelines, and medical journals, as well as more than 140,000 drug labels.
The AQ app has introduced an AI response plus doctor review model in dermatology, where AI-generated health guidance is reviewed and verified by physicians from leading hospitals on request. The model has expanded to 16 specialties including obstetrics and gynecology and otolaryngology.
Zhang Junjie, Vice President of Ant Group and Head of the Health Business, said AI will not replace doctors but can serve as a trusted assistant for healthcare professionals. The goal is to build a reliable and practical AI workstation for China’s more than five million physicians to help them work more efficiently while enabling leading doctors’ expertise to reach more patient, the executive added.
