Global payments company Visa and China’s Lianlian DigiTech have completed their first live business-to-business agentic transaction using LoopXPay, Lianlian’s AI agent, in which the agent sourced a product sample from a supplier and completed the purchase within a single automated workflow.
In a statement on Friday, Visa said in the transaction, LoopXPay identified a purchasing requirement, recommended suitable suppliers, compared options, placed the order, and executed the payment, operating within pre-defined spending controls and approval parameters.
The milestone demonstrates how AI agents can help small and medium-sized businesses reduce manual effort in sourcing and purchasing while retaining oversight of commercial decisions, Visa highlighted.
LoopXPay has been registered in Visa’s Agentic Directory, a registry enabling businesses and merchants to identify verified AI agents within the ecosystem. The directory supports the implementation of Visa’s Trusted Agent Protocol, which can provide identity verification, transparency, and controls for agent-driven transactions.
Building on the transaction, Visa and Lianlian will utilize the AI agents to support procurement, digital advertising optimisation, and B2B platform payments.
Darren Parslow, Global Head of Visa Commercial Solutions, said the collaboration with Lianlian can advance the trusted foundations businesses will need for agent-driven commerce.
Zhang Zhengyu, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Lianlian DigiTech, said AI is reshaping the commercial value chain and Lianlian is building AI-native financial infrastructure spanning identity verification, transaction authorisation, intelligent payment, and global fund settlement. The aim is to combine Lianlian’s capabilities with Visa’s global network to help businesses transact in an agent-driven commerce environment, Zhang said.
Lianlian DigiTech, founded in 2009, now holds 68 payment licenses and related qualifications, supports services in more than 200 countries and regions, enables transaction settlement in more than 140 currencies, connects more than 180 global e-commerce platforms. It has served a cumulative total of more than 13.3 million customers.
