Singapore-based Ropedia, a data infrastructure company for physical AI and robotics, has raised $22 million in a Pre-Series A round, bringing its total funding to $30 million.
In a statement on Thursday, Ropedia said the round was led by unnamed venture investors with experience in AI, deep technology, and infrastructure in Southeast Asia. A previous raise included investors and super angels connected to Google, a16z, NVIDIA, and Amazon.
Ropedia will utilize the proceeds to expand global data collection into Southeast Asia and North America, growing Ropedia’s Singapore and US teams, increasing manufacturing of wearable capture hardware. The firm also plans to build its data platform with annotation tooling, quality analytics and compliance infrastructure, and expand AI research into data foundation models and world models.
Ropedia’s platform covers the full data pipeline for physical AI, from capturing multimodal human experience data to delivering processed datasets. Using proprietary wearable hardware, the company captures egocentric video, depth, motion, and audio, which are synchronized and processed through its platform.
Its approach cuts data collection costs by up to 50 times compared with traditional methods and its wearable capture device has entered mass production, Ropedia highlighted. Ropedia currently serves more than 20 robotics and foundation model companies across North America, China, and Singapore.
Zhaoxi Chen, CEO and Co-founder of Ropedia, said the company’s technology provides robots with the experiential data needed to understand physical interaction and timing, in order to help robots move beyond testing into real-world deployment in factories and homes.
