Animoca Brands has completed a live pilot of AI-powered commerce capabilities developed in collaboration with Visa, enabling AI agents on its Minds platform to identify relevant Visa rewards and complete purchases on behalf of users at selected merchants in Hong Kong.
In a statement on Wednesday, Hong Kong-based Animoca Brands said the cooperation starts with the Bruce Lee Club Ltd eShop. The pilot introduces two new agent-led capabilities leveraging Visa Intelligent Commerce and a cardholder rewards and benefits directory.
Using the new capabilities, Minds AI agents can surface relevant Visa Hong Kong and China offers based on a user’s eligible cards, preferences, and intended purchase journey, then complete transactions on the user’s behalf within pre-authorised preferences and spending controls. Visa’s payments infrastructure provides tokenized payment credentials, authentication, transaction controls, and fraud protections for agent-initiated payments, according to Animoca Brands.
Yat Siu, chairman and co-founder of Animoca Brands, said most digital payments innovation has focused on making the same consumer journey faster or less expensive. Agentic commerce can lead to a more fundamental shift by allowing an AI agent to act on a user’s behalf within clearly defined permissions. The collaboration with Visa Intelligent Commerce can act as a bridge connecting the emerging agentic world with established human-centric commerce infrastructure, the executive added.
Minds by Animoca Brands is a platform for deploying and managing user-controlled, always-on AI agents. Through its Bazaar marketplace, users can create and enhance agents with tools, apps, and skills, while enabling multiple specialised agents to collaborate and execute tasks.
