Editor’s note: TNGlobal is a media partner of MWC26 Shanghai
Organized by the GSMA, MWC26 Shanghai takes place from June 24-26, 2026 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.
This year’s event will spotlight some of the world’s most exciting technological frontiers, including 6G, mobile AI, embodied intelligence, smart healthcare, smart mobility, satellite and non-terrestrial networks (NTN).
Here’s a preview of four key zones where future technologies meet everyday life.
PART 01 Smarter living: mobile AI and embodied intelligence enter everyday life
MWC26 Shanghai introduces the new Mobile AI Innovation Frontiers Zone, featuring a wide range of AI-powered devices, from smartphones and smart glasses to intelligent toys, offering a glimpse into how AI is becoming part of daily life.
One of this year’s highlights is the rise of embodied intelligence from research labs into real-world applications. Embodied intelligence refers to intelligent systems with a physical form that can perceive, act, and interact in the real world. By combining the reasoning capabilities of large AI models with robotics, sensors and actuators, these systems can see, hear, move, and think.
From standalone intelligence to seamless collaboration, what MWC26 Shanghai showcases is not only technological breakthroughs, but also a vision of how future cities will work and how people will live.
PART 02 Smart connectivity: direct-to-satellite coverage for a never offline future
For scenarios where terrestrial networks struggle to provide coverage — such as remote regions, mountains and offshore environments — MWC26 Shanghai will launch its inaugural Constellations of the Future Zone bringing together satellite operators, device manufacturers and industry partners to showcase the latest developments and commercial applications of non-terrestrial networks (NTN).
According to GSMA Intelligence, by September 2025, 110 operator groups representing 67 percent of global mobile connections had established active partnerships with satellite companies. China’s three major operators have all obtained satellite mobile communication licences, paving the way for satellite services to become a standard feature of future mobile plans. This means that whether hiking in the mountains, travelling at sea or driving through remote areas, users could automatically switch to satellite networks when terrestrial signals disappear.
Nearly 20 domestic satellite communications companies will showcase their latest innovations at the event. Space technologies that once seemed out of reach are gradually becoming part of everyday life. In the future, staying connected may no longer be a luxury, but an expectation.
PART 03 Smarter healthcare: bringing quality medical care closer to everyone
MWC26 Shanghai will feature a dedicated Smart Healthcare Zone, exploring how AI and 5G are transforming healthcare accessibility. As both a National Medical Centre and a National AI Application Pilot Base, Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University is pioneering the concept of an AI-native hospital through its AIMS, aiming to establish a Chinese model for the large-scale deployment of medical AI.
Meanwhile, Huashan Hospital of Fudan University will present three AI-powered healthcare initiatives covering hypertension management, allergy and immunological disease follow-up, and multidisciplinary decision support for gastrointestinal tumours.
To address growing demand for health screenings, ZTE and Shanzhen Technology have jointly launched an AI-enabled health examination solution that tackles common pain points such as lengthy report generation, interpretation challenges and quality control. From AI-assisted diagnosis and rehabilitation to smart hospitals and remote collaboration, AI and 5G are helping quality healthcare resources transcend geographical barriers, turning the vision of seeing top doctors close to home into reality.
PART 04 Smart mobility: from racetracks to roads
As 5G, AI and vehicle-road collaboration technologies evolve, driving is being redefined. At the co-located Smart Mobility Summit, visitors will explore the future of transportation, from L2–L4 autonomous driving and intelligent cockpits to software-defined vehicles and C-V2X-enabled infrastructure.Beyond eVTOL aircraft, drone logistics and Urban Air Mobility (UAM), low-altitude technologies are increasingly playing a role in urban governance. Xingji Hang (Jiangsu) Technology will showcase its STAR·AIBOX platform, combining multi-domain sensing capabilities with AI large models to enable intelligent inspection and management across more than 100 scenarios, including forest fire prevention, environmental protection and illegal construction detection. The globally renowned all-electric racing series, Formula E, will also bring its latest Gen3 EVO race car to MWC26 Shanghai. Visitors can experience cutting-edge applications such as low-latency telemetry transmission and real-time team communications, demonstrating how 5G powers both speed and intelligence.
