Starlink‘s satellite Internet services will be available in Vietnam at $85 per month, in addition to $350 for the terminal equipment, according to the Vietnam Telecommunications Authority, under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The prices are part of Starlink’s draft plan, not the official figures. Starlink has yet to announce the official starting date for the service in Vietnam, the authority noted. Starlink prices in Vietnam are similar to those in Europe, Southeast Asia, and Africa, the authority said.

The monthly charge for Starlink’s satellite Internet services in Vietnam are higher than those for fiber optics Internet at about VND300,000 ($11.4) or 4G/5G mobile Internet at about VND100,000-VND300,000.

Starlink Services Vietnam, the entity of Starlink in Vietnam, was granted a license for Internet services in Vietnam in February. In the initial phase, the service features four gateways and no more than 600,000 terminal equipment sets. The 600,000 figure is a fraction of Vietnam’s current Internet service market with about 25 million users.

The four gateways are located in the central coastal city of Danang, the southern economic hub of Ho Chi Minh City, and the northern industrial province of Phu Tho.
