Temasek-backed Fullerton Fund Management has launched the first retail fund under the Equity Market Development Program (EQDP), after it was appointed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore as the first batch of asset managers under the EQDP announced in July this year.
Fullerton said in a statement on Monday that Fullerton Singapore Value-Up invests exclusively in Singapore listed securities, across large, mid, and small caps, initial public offerings (IPOs) and secondary listings.
Managed as a high-conviction portfolio of 20-40 stocks1, it seeks to outperform the FTSE Straits Times All-Share Total Return Index through active management.
The Fund focuses on catalytic growth and shareholder value creation.
Through on-the-ground research and rigorous stock selection, Fullerton’s investment team identifies and actively engages with companies that are on a transformative journey to unlock shareholder value through corporate actions such as restructuring, divestments, share buybacks, increasing dividends and profitability improvements, amongst other considerations.
The fund’s flexible mandate enables investments across all market capitalization tiers, including mid and small-cap stocks, which represent a dynamic yet often under-owned segment of the market.
Sector allocations are guided by prevailing market views and include financials, real estate, and industrials. The portfolio has exposure to dividend paying stocks and both accumulation and distribution share classes will be available to investors.
According to the statement, the launch of the Fullerton Singapore Value-Up reflects Fullerton’s long-term optimism for Singapore’s equity market, supported by robust economic growth, increasing productivity, rising earnings potential, and a stable currency.
It is noted that recent government initiatives to boost capital efficiency, deepen market liquidity, and strengthen corporate governance, have further heightened the attractiveness of Singapore equities.
Equity market reform has also precedence for success in Asia.
Value-Up programs in Japan and Korea encouraged companies to focus on improving capital efficiency and enhancing long-term shareholder value, resulting in positive equity performance in their home markets.
More recently, Minister for National Development and Deputy Chairman of Monetary Authority of Singapore, Chee Hong Tat unveiled a “Value Unlock” package to help Singapore-listed companies enhance shareholder returns by strengthening capabilities, improving investor communications and fostering collaborative networks.
These efforts should boost investor confidence, increase market visibility, and drive long-term value creation across the broader equities landscape.
“The actively managed Fullerton Singapore Value-Up Fund offers retail investors a unique opportunity to co-invest, alongside institutional capital, in companies that are transforming for the future,
“We will deepen our collaboration with the fund management industry to expand participation in our stock market, attract greater portfolio allocation into Singapore-listed stocks and unlock greater value in the stock market,” said Ng Yao Loong, Head of Equities, SGX Group.
James Tan, Group Head of Investment Products and Advisory, DBS Bank, said while Singaporeans are increasingly investing to grow their wealth, DBS sees a real opportunity to help more people to stay invested and diversify their investment portfolios.
“The launch of the new Fullerton Singapore Value-Up will not only make investing more accessible to retail investors but also enable them to unlock opportunities in the Singapore equities market, which is gaining traction,
“DBS is looking forward to deepening our longstanding partnership with Fullerton to expand our offerings to meet our customers’ wealth management needs,” he added.
Fullerton Singapore Value-Up capitalizes on Fullerton Fund Management’s deep Singapore heritage and two decades of experience in navigating local equity markets, said the statement.
By combining local insight, a disciplined growth framework, and robust risk management, the fund channels capital to companies best positioned to benefit from Singapore’s continued economic and market advancements.
“Fullerton Singapore Value-Up is a clear expression of Fullerton’s commitment to Singapore equities and to compounding long‑term capital appreciation for investors,
“With on‑the‑ground experience and proprietary research, we pursue high‑conviction opportunities and actively engage with companies to improve efficiency, reinforce governance, and co‑create value,” said Jenny Sofian, Chief Executive Officer at Fullerton Fund Management.
She added this strategy is designed for investors seeking actively managed, total‑return outcomes from a manager deeply rooted in Singapore.
Fullerton also highlighted that Fullerton Singapore Value-Up is offered as a Collective Investment Scheme to retail, accredited, and institutional investors in Singapore and other markets.
