The management board of the Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) has officially approved CMC Corporation‘s investment in the CMC Hyperscale Data Center project, with a total capital of over $250 million.

CMC said in a statement on Monday that more than just a digital infrastructure project at the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, this milestone marks a major leap forward in CMC’s journey to build a hyperscale digital infrastructure, advancing the national artificial intelligence (AI) Transformation – Go Global strategy and elevating Vietnam on the global technology map.

Unlike traditional data centers, the CMC Hyperscale DC SHTP is designed as a digital “heart” – a powerhouse for data storage, processing, and analysis, delivering services such as AI-as-a-service, cloud infrastructure, big data, and cyber security to millions of users.

The entire center is built with synchronized next-generation network technologies such as XGS-PON, SD-WAN, SASE, and 800G DWDM optical transmission, ensuring ultra-high bandwidth, stable, and secure connectivity from core to edge.

A technological highlight of the project is the Digital Twin system, enabling real-time operation monitoring and optimization of the entire facility.

CMC also prioritizes renewable energy solutions, aiming for an environmentally-friendly and modern Green Data Center that meets international standards.

The center will launch with an initial capacity of 30 MW, expandable to 120 MW, to meet massive computing demands from AI development and the digital economy.

According to the statement, the project’s true value lies not just in its size, but in its long-term vision.

From early on, CMC has built an open technology ecosystem of CMC Cloud – AI – big data – cyber security, developing core capabilities such as a GPU farm with over 1,000 NVIDIA GH200 units and multiple Uptime Tier III-certified data centers – pioneers in Vietnam.

The CMC Hyperscale DC SHTP represents a breakthrough upgrade, placing Vietnam on the Southeast Asia data infrastructure map and ready to welcome global AI and Big Tech enterprises.

It also powers two key pillars of the national digital transformation: CMC Cloud (a 100 percent Vietnamese-developed cloud computing platform); C.OpenAI (an open AI ecosystem with 25 proprietary core technologies including computer vision, large language models [LLM], Voice Processing, and Datalakehouse).

It is noted that numerous AI products have already been successfully commercialized and ranked highly on the global stage, such as: C.Face; C.OCR (SmartDocs), CLS legal assistant, AI Camera, and AI Box.

Beyond its technological value, the Hyperscale DC SHTP is also a national strategic project.

CMC is collaborating with Ho Chi Minh City and the Vietnam Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) – part of the World Economic Forum network – to build Vietnam’s first AI City model.

This project aligns with Resolution 57 on breakthrough development in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, as well as Resolution 68, promoting the private sector’s role in economic development.

With this infrastructure, Ho Chi Minh City gains a significant advantage in attracting AI research and development (R&D) centers, tech startups, venture funds, and technology universities, paving the way for the city to realize its ambition of becoming a regional digital hub.

“We do not consider the CMC Hyperscale Data Center at SHTP to be just another data center,

“This is a strategic digital infrastructure that supports Ho Chi Minh City’s development into a Digital Hub of the region,” said Nguyen Trung Chinh, Chairman of the Board and Executive Chairman of CMC Corporation.

“It is the core infrastructure for national digital and AI transformation, empowering Vietnamese enterprises with world-class computing resources—eliminating the need to outsource data processing abroad,

“This is our concrete commitment to the implementation of Resolution 57 and Resolution 68, and our contribution to national development through core technology,” he added.

Within its Go Global strategy, CMC said the firm positions AI as the foundation for Vietnam’s global competitiveness.

The Hyperscale Data Center in Ho Chi Minh City expands AI-as-a-service, big data-as-a-service, and cyber security-as-a-service not only for domestic markets but also to conquer international markets.

It noted for CMC, this is more than an infrastructure project—it is a bold affirmation of Vietnam’s capability to master core technologies and become a trusted partner in world-class AI and digital transformation.
