Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), an India-based information technology (IT) services, consulting, and business solutions provider, has launched a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI)-Powered Research & Innovation Center in Singapore.

The firm said in a statement on Thursday that this cutting-edge hub is designed to fast-track digital transformation for businesses globally and solidify Singapore’s position as a leading destination for emerging technology adoption in the Asia Pacific region.

Located within the TCS Asia Pacific Office at the Changi Business Park in Singapore, the center aims to bring together customers, startups, academia, and technology partners into an AI-driven, co-innovation ecosystem.

The space will enable TCS customers and partners to work closely with experts to co-develop, prototype, and scale AI-powered solutions that address real-world business challenges, focusing on innovation across public services and industry sectors.

The inauguration took place at the TCS Asia Pacific Office, in the presence of Alvin Tan, Minister of State for the Ministry of National Development and the Ministry of Trade & Industry, Singapore.

This initiative aligns closely with Singapore’s Smart Nation vision and supports its ambition to become a digital-first economy by using advanced technologies to expand opportunities and build a resilient digital future.

“The center’s focus on helping local businesses accelerate their digital transformation and training graduates to have in-demand digital skills is aligned with Singapore’s push for AI to be used responsibly to boost productivity and competitiveness,

“TCS has been a strong partner of Singapore for 40 years and we look forward to deepening our collaboration to advance Singapore’s digital economy,” said Jermaine Loy, Managing Director, Economic Development Board, Singapore.

TCS has a well-established network of Research and Innovation centers, under its global innovation ecosystem, TCS Pace™.

These centers span across key cities including Amsterdam, London, Letterkenny, New York, Pittsburgh, Paris, Riyadh, Stockholm, and Toronto.

In the Asia Pacific region, TCS has significantly deepened its innovation ecosystem with dedicated hubs in Manila, Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo.

As part of the global TCS Pace™ network, the new center in Singapore will explore the application of AI and automation across critical industries to enhance productivity, ensure operational resilience, and accelerate innovation.

It will also focus on developing innovations that can transform public services and digital infrastructure, using AI to drive efficiency and citizen-centricity.

Sustainability is another key focus area, with dedicated efforts to advance renewable energy integration, green manufacturing, and intelligent supply chains using artificial intelligence.

“Singapore’s position as a leading hub for technology, finance, and innovation makes it an ideal launchpad for the TCS AI-Powered Research & Innovation Center,

“This marks a significant milestone in our continued commitment to fostering AI innovation and driving meaningful impact across the Asia Pacific region,” said Girish Ramachandran, President – Growth Markets, TCS.

According to him, this new AI center will connect Singapore with other innovation hubs, enabling cross-border collaboration and knowledge exchange, strengthening Singapore’s position as a hub for emerging technologies.

The center will also play a pivotal role in strengthening Singapore’s economy by addressing talent gaps, supporting local startups, and building an adaptable and future-ready workforce.

Through TCS-led apprenticeships and engaging, real-world learning opportunities, local graduates will gain in-demand digital skills – enhancing their employability and opening new career pathways in technology and innovation-driven sectors.

“With the launch of the latest AI-Powered Research & Innovation Centre in Singapore, as part of the global TCS Pace™ network, we are excited to bring our global innovation initiatives closer to customers in the region,

“These initiatives aim at infusing emerging technologies like AI/GenAI, quantum, robotics, and more to invent next best practices for information technology (IT), business, and societal work domains,” said Dr. Harrick Vin, Chief Technology Officer, TCS.

“Given the rapid changes in the industry, staying dynamic and future-proof is a business imperative,

“Our center here will further strengthen our ability to serve as a strategic partner for industries, accelerate their digital transformation journeys, drive sustainable growth, and help them be future-ready,” he added.

Over the past decade, TCS has made substantial investments in Singapore’s innovation ecosystem, notably through the launch of the Digital Acceleration Center in 2018, which has empowered local businesses to advance digital transformation efforts.

TCS said the firm is committed to further supporting Singapore’s development, by expanding its AI research capabilities through strategic collaborations with universities and institutions.

The firm’s AI strategy is anchored by its global platforms, including TCS AI WisdomNext™, which simplify and accelerate enterprise adoption of generative AI.

By collaborating with technology partners like NVIDIA and Google, TCS brings best-in-class AI capabilities to its customers.

The new center in Singapore strengthens this mission by enabling businesses in the region to harness AI responsibly and at scale.

TCS said it also drives in-depth research on next-gen technologies and their real-world adoption across industries.

This includes producing impactful studies such as the TCS AI for Business Study, which evaluates the value of AI and showcases how it is being applied across sectors.
