LINE Thailand said monthly active users of LINE OpenChat, its interest-based community feature, rose to 24 million from 20 million after the company moved the feature to the third tab of the LINE app.
In a statement on Thursday, LINE said the new discovery design makes communities easier to find, join and take part in.
LINE said monthly usage sessions across the service reached more than 2.25 billion as of September 30, 2026, up from 1.8 billion. The figures were measured about a month after the move to the new tab, which also brought 7.4 million room joins over the period.
The redesigned tab offers interest-based recommendations, trending topics, and simpler ways to find communities. LINE is adding AI-powered conversation summaries, discussion threads, and fraud-protection alerts. Besides, LINE is expanding partnerships with brands, entertainment companies, and schools to link online communities to offline activities.
Nadhakriz Kanchanamantana, head of LINE OpenChat, said shared interests are the starting point for meaningful connections, and that the company wants to turn shared interests into lasting communities.
The company plans to develop the service around four priorities: Discover, to make communities easier to reach; Activate, to encourage participation; Grow, to support community creators; and Connect, to build partnerships across industries.
OpenChat is available in Japan, Thailand, and Taiwan and supports communities of up to 200,000 members, with features including Live Talk for real-time voice conversations. LINE can also help users find communities for education, entertainment, fandoms, finance, gaming, and lifestyle.
