Visa has set up six global capability hubs at its new Solution Center in Paya Lebar Green, Singapore, hosting 1,500 employees working on technology across artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, quantum computing, and next-generation payments.
In a statement on Thursday, Visa said the hubs will cover three areas. In AI and commerce, they will develop applied AI for payments and fintech, and explore AI agents’ secured interaction with merchants, and consumers and payment networks.
In next-generation payments, they will research digital money, stablecoins, and programmable payments. Visa will also work on wallets and alternative payment methods that span multiple networks.
In trust, security, and resilience, they will cover cybersecurity and research quantum computing applications for finance, including preparation for a quantum-secure future.
Rajat Taneja, president of technology at Visa, said the company is entering a period of commerce innovation driven by AI, digital money, and other technologies. Its presence in Singapore would bring together talent and expertise to build new commerce experiences.
The Solution Center will work with partners across academia, government, banks, and the fintech sector, including AXS, DBS, DCS, FOMO Pay, Nium, and StraitsX. Visa is also taking part in the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s BLOOM initiative for cross-border digital money and is working with research institutions on quantum computing.
Beng Kong Pee, executive vice president of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), said Visa’s investment would create high-value jobs for Singaporeans and strengthen Singapore’s role in developing products in agentic commerce and quantum.
