Malaysia-based telecommunication firm CelcomDigi Berhad and Kulim Technology Park Corporation Sdn Bhd (KTPC) have on last Friday entered into a 15-year strategic agreement to provide fiber connectivity at Industrial Zone Phase 4A (IZP 4A) of Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP).
The partnership will enable CelcomDigi to bring its fiber infrastructure and enterprise connectivity expertise to support various operations and digitalization efforts in the new industrial zone, the firm said in a statement.
Since its establishment in 1996, KHTP has become a key industrial hub for Kedah, attracting investment and supporting employment through its concentration of high-technology manufacturing activities.
According to KHTP, the park recorded MYR 189.4 billion ($46.8 billion) in cumulative investment and a workforce of 48,813 as of the second quarter of 2026.
As the park continues to expand, reliable, high-capacity connectivity is increasingly important to manufacturers operating in digitally connected environments.
Under this partnership, CelcomDigi will manage the fibre duct infrastructure at IZP 4A and provide incoming tenants with enterprise solutions, including Dedicated Internet Access (DIA), Private Leased Lines (PLL), IPVPN, Managed Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) and Managed Fibre services.
As IZP 4A develops, the partnership can support tenants with connectivity solutions tailored to their evolving needs, said the statement.
The partnership also aligns with the broader development ambitions of the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER), which spans Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak.
Through this partnership with KTPC, CelcomDigi aims to support the Northern Corridor’s investment potential and the growth of more technology-driven industries across the country.
“The continued development of KHTP is about more than expanding industrial capacity; it is about creating the right environment for businesses to grow, investment to flourish and opportunities to reach the wider community,
“Our partnership with CelcomDigi will help ensure that IZP 4A is equipped with the fiber infrastructure needed by incoming manufacturers, supporting their operational needs as well as the park’s long-term development,” said Mohd Sahil Zabidi, Group Chief Executive Officer of KTPC.
“We hope this progress will contribute to Kedah’s economic growth, create wider opportunities for local talent and businesses, and strengthen the Northern Corridor’s contribution to Malaysia’s industrial future,” he added.
Chief Business Enterprise Officer of CelcomDigi, T Kugan said digital connectivity is a key enabler of Malaysia’s economic progress, helping businesses become more competitive and industries to evolve.
“We see our role as going beyond providing connectivity to supporting the digital foundations that businesses and industries need to grow. Our partnership with KTPC reflects this commitment, bringing our fibre infrastructure and enterprise capabilities to KHTP Phase 4A to support Kedah’s industrial ambitions and the Northern Corridor’s continued development,
“Ultimately, we want to help create an environment where businesses can thrive, investment can grow and the benefits of digitalization can contribute to progress for Malaysia and its people,” he added.
