Vietnam’s private conglomerate Geleximco Group and China’s automobile manufacturer Chery Group will cooperate in high-technology industry and the green economy, including semiconductors, robotics, clean energy, batteries, environmental technology, and shipbuilding.
In a statement on Wednesday, Geleximco said the two signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement on October 20. The collaboration is essential to technological change, modern manufacturing, and sustainable growth.
The partners expect the cooperation to combine each side’s strengths, experience, and resources. It can support technological innovation, bring in advanced industrial know-how, and strengthen production capacity and supply chains in Vietnam.
For Geleximco, expanding strategic partnerships with international companies gives access to new technology trends and helps it align with Vietnam’s push for industrialization and modernization. The partnership can also lay the groundwork for higher-technology, environmentally friendly manufacturing with greater added value.
The agreement comes as the two groups are already working together in automobiles. Geleximco and Chery have a joint venture that produces and distributes Omoda and Jaecoo vehicles in Vietnam.
The joint venture also received an investment registration certificate for a $800 million factory in Vietnam’s Hung Yen province in July 2026. The factory has a capacity of 50,000 vehicles a year after the first phase.
Besides, Geleximco plans to build an automotive-parts plant in Hung Yen province with partners from Guangxi, China, at an estimated investment of $400 million.
