Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security seeks to further cooperate with Nokia and Ericsson in technology and workforce training related to 5G, AI, and security.
Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang made the suggestions at separate meeting in Hanoi on Thursday, with executives of Nokia and Ericsson, the ministry said.

At the meeting with Nokia chief business executive for Asia-Pacific Andrew Cope, Quang praised Nokia as one of the world’s leading telecommunications technology companies. He also noted Nokia’s support for railway and airport projects and for dedicated communications networks used in public security.
Quang asked Nokia to share experience, transfer technology, and work jointly on 5G-Advanced, 6G, AI, the Internet of Things, cloud computing, and automated networks. The cooperation can strengthen Vietnam’s technological self-reliance, he added.
The police chief also asked Nokia to help the ministry study and deploy dedicated 5G networks for law-enforcement forces. Another suggestion is to help the police force build safe and resilient infrastructure that keeps communications running during emergencies, incidents, and natural disasters.
Besides, he asked for training on new telecommunications, AI, data analysis, and cybersecurity. The collaboration can help the ministry’s operation, training, expert exchanges, and specialized courses in data, AI, and high-performance computing.
Cope said Nokia values the cooperation opportunity and is ready to share experience and present technology suited to practical needs.

At the meeting with Rita Mokbel, head of Ericsson Vietnam, Quang said Ericsson has moved from a traditional equipment supplier toward intelligent connectivity platforms. He suggested Ericsson share the technologies with potential in security, along with its technology roadmap and research trends.
He also urged Ericsson to help the ministry study and deploy dedicated 5G networks for law-enforcement forces. Another potential collaboration is to help build telecommunications infrastructure that stays online during emergencies.
He proposed joint training in 5G and 6G, critical communications networks, cybersecurity, and AI for ministry staff and related agencies.
Mokbel said Ericsson places importance on science and technology cooperation, digital transformation, AI, and next-generation telecommunications in Vietnam. Ericsson is committed to continuing cooperation with the ministry on telecommunications, security, information safety, and AI, she added.
