Vietnam will host SEMIEXPO Vietnam 2026, an international semiconductor exhibition, in Ho Chi Minh City on December 13-14, drawing some 200 companies and global chip leaders,

The event organizers, namely Vietnam’s National Innovation Center and SEMI Southeast Asia, a global semiconductor-industry association, announced the event on Thursday. The event will serve Vietnam’s target of moving up the global semiconductor supply chain.

Now in its third year, SEMIEXPO Vietnam 2026 is expected to feature about 170 booths and around 200 international firms, the organisers said.

The global association’s president, Ajit Manocha, is due to attend, along with executives from chip and equipment makers including NVIDIA, Cadence, Synopsys, Coherent, and Tokyo Electron.

Organisers said this year’s edition shifts from mainly showcasing technology, as in the previous two, toward connecting Vietnamese companies directly with the needs of large manufacturers. The aim is to help local firms become second- and then first-tier suppliers in global chip supply chains, said Vo Xuan Hoai, deputy director of the National Innovation Center.

Vietnam is pursuing a semiconductor strategy with 2030 targets of at least 100 chip-design companies, one small fabrication plant and 10 packaging-and-testing facilities, plus more than 50,000 engineers and graduates, and a domestic market exceeding $25 billion. The country already hosts about 100 semiconductor firms across design, packaging and testing, with Samsung, SK, Amkor, and Intel expanding there.

The exhibition comes as the global semiconductor market is forecast to reach about $1.5 trillion to $1.6 trillion in 2026 and to exceed $2 trillion before 2030, according to industry data cited by the organizers.
