Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) has opened an office in Boston, its fifth in the United States, to help Singapore companies expand on the U.S. East Coast, and has signed its first U.S. state-level partnership, with Massachusetts.

In a statement on Thursday, the government-run Enterprise Singapore said the Boston Overseas Center was launched on September 9 by Singapore’s Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs Edwin Tong. It is the agency’s second office on the East Coast, after New York.

It follows the opening of an Austin office in April, and adds to existing centers in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The opening comes as Singapore and the United States mark 60 years of relations.

The center will give Singapore firms market insights, project opportunities, and links to corporate, innovation, and capital networks in the Greater Boston area. Its opening coincided with a partnership agreement with the Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment, EnterpriseSG’s first at the U.S. state level, covering life sciences, energy, advanced manufacturing, robotics, and AI.

Singapore companies already active in the United States include MAK Technologies, a unit of ST Engineering, and the startups Cirrus Therapeutics, in gene therapy, and Roceso Technologies, in rehabilitation robotics, the agency said. It said Vertex, a venture-capital platform under Singapore’s Temasek, had invested about $100 million across nine Massachusetts startups.

Cindy Khoo, EnterpriseSG’s managing director, said the United States remained an important market for Singapore firms and that Massachusetts was a natural East Coast partner in innovation and deep tech. Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey said the office would connect the state’s companies with markets, investment and partners across Southeast Asia.
