Cohesity and HCLTech have added a managed clean-room capability to the HCLTech VaultNXT cyber-resilience offering, giving organizations an isolated environment to investigate, validate, and recover data after a cyber incident.
The companies said the new capability integrates Cohesity Clean Room and Cohesity’s AI-powered data-security tools into VaultNXT, HCLTech’s consulting-led framework for building and operating ransomware-recovery environments.
From backups to trusted recovery
Cyber recovery plans increasingly need more than a usable backup. After an attack, organizations may need to identify affected systems, contain the incident, analyze data for signs of compromise, validate recovery copies, meet regulatory obligations, and restore business services without reintroducing malicious activity.
According to the release, the managed clean-room environment is intended to provide isolated investigation and recovery capabilities, supported by policy-driven cyber vaulting, immutable recovery copies, governed access, and audit-ready processes. The companies highlighted regulations including the European Union’s Digital Operational Resilience Act and Network and Information Security Directive 2.
Those regulatory references reflect the product’s target market, although the requirements that apply will vary by organization and jurisdiction. The release did not include independent evidence on recovery-time improvements, incident outcomes, or the cost of operating the managed service.
Managed resilience services
Cohesity said the integration is intended to help customers move from restoring data alone to a process that includes investigation, validation, and trusted recovery. HCLTech said the framework combines cyber-resilience consulting and operations with Cohesity’s recovery technology.
The announcement underlines the growing market for recovery environments that can be brought online during a cyber incident without being directly connected to the production systems under investigation. For enterprises, that approach can support forensic work and controlled restoration, but it still depends on tested runbooks, clear decision rights, current copies of critical systems, and regular exercises.
Cohesity and HCLTech did not name customers using the enhanced VaultNXT capability or give a timetable for country availability. The release positions the service around enterprises that need managed recovery processes and documentation alongside their technical controls.
