Zig by ComfortDelGro and Gojek Singapore announced Monday an expanded partnership that makes it easier for commuters to book a metered taxi through the Gojek app.
GoTaxi bookings can now be matched with and fulfilled by taxis on Zig’s network, Singapore’s largest metered taxi fleet, meaning shorter waits for riders and access to a broader pool of booking demand for drivers, the duo said in a statement.
The move builds on the companies’ existing arrangement, under which selected GoCar requests are already fulfilled by Zig taxis, and reflects growing demand from commuters who value the convenience of booking through an app while continuing to enjoy meter-based taxi fares.
“Since launching GoTaxi in Singapore, we have seen strong demand from users who value the convenience of booking a taxi through the app while enjoying meter-based taxi fares,
“By expanding our partnership with Zig, we are giving users access to Singapore’s largest and fastest-matching licensed taxi network and enhancing the overall booking experience for commuters. This is part of our ongoing effort to make ride-booking more reliable and flexible for different customer needs,” said Janine Teo, General Manager, Gojek Singapore.
Yee Hon Wai, Head of Rental, Zig, said with the scale and reach of their taxi fleet, they are
uniquely positioned to support more metered-fare ride requests while connecting our drivers to a broader range of booking demands.
“This expanded partnership creates more opportunities for our taxi drivers to secure bookings, helping to support sustainable earnings while continuing to meet commuter preferences,” he added.
GoTaxi and Zig taxi rides continue to be charged according to the taxi meter, with standard platform and payment transaction fees applying, said the statement.
