Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, or Komdigi, and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison have launched the Garuda Spark Innovation Hub (GSIH) in Jayapura, Papua, as part of a broader effort to connect regional digital talent with Indonesia’s national technology ecosystem.

The hub is located at the Indosat AI Experience Center in Jayapura and is intended to connect young people and other local talent with government, industry, academia, communities, mentorship, training, and collaboration opportunities.

The Jayapura launch formed part of a national Garuda Spark program linked to an event in BSD, South Tangerang. Indonesia’s Garuda Spark network describes a hub-and-spoke model with a national hub and regional nodes designed around local innovation and talent needs.

Indosat also introduced the Indosat Game Center Jayapura, a space for young people and gaming communities that the company says will support digital activities and community development alongside the innovation hub.

Meutya Hafid, Indonesia’s Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, said Jayapura has an important role in developing digital talent in Papua and that the initiative is intended to connect local talent with mentorship, industry, and national-level opportunities.

The initiative expands the role of Indosat’s AI Experience Center in Jayapura, which has operated since May 2025. The company said the additional programs are intended to broaden access to technology learning and connections across Indonesia’s digital ecosystem.

The launch follows other Indosat-backed AI and digital-talent initiatives in Indonesia, including a university-based AI technology center launched earlier this month with Universitas Gadjah Mada, Nvidia, and Komdigi.
