Bettr, the embedded finance platform under Singapore’s Ant International, has partnered with Muslim Pro, an Islamic lifestyle app with more than 190 million downloads across more than 190 markets, to launch an Umrah financing solution in Malaysia for eligible Muslim users planning the pilgrimage.

In a statement on Monday, Ant International said Bettr utilizes a Tawarruq structure, facilitated through AS-SIDQ, SEDANIA As Salam Capital’s patented digital commodity trading platform for Tawarruq and Commodity Murabahah transactions.

Eligible users in Malaysia can discover Umrah packages through Muslim Pro, apply for financing digitally, and select installment tenures of between 12 and 24 months. Available packages range from standard to premium and may cover flights, accommodation, meals, and ground transportation for individuals or families.

Bettr utilize credit risk models to assess applicants’ repayment capability, enabling the solution to serve a broader range of users including gig workers and small business owners.

Malaysia has a Muslim population of approximately 22 million, representing around 65 percent of the country’s total population. Many Umrah travellers in Malaysia are aged between 30 and 50 and supporting households of two to five members.

Nafees Khundker, Group Managing Director and CEO of Muslim Pro, said the partnership offers a responsible, Shariah-compliant way for individuals and families in Malaysia to plan their pilgrimage with confidence.

Quan Yu, General Manager of Bettr Credit and Senior Vice President of Ant International, said the company’s engagement in Islamic finance is driven by a belief in the power of technology to support individuals and small businesses, and that the partnership with Muslim Pro aims to scale innovative, Shariah-compliant digital financial products reflecting Muslim community values.
