CuspAI has raised $450 million in a Series B round valuing the company at $2.6 billion, with Singapore’s Temasek among the returning investors, the Cambridge-based AI firm said in a statement on Monday.
The round was led by Kleiner Perkins and NEA, with significant participation from Jeff Bezos’ Bezos Expeditions. Additional new investors include Glade Brook Capital Partners, Lux Capital, AMD Ventures, Tru Arrow Partners, StepStone, Britain’s Sovereign AI Venture Fund, the Netherlands’ Invest-NL, and John Doerr.
Temasek joined along with existing investors Basis Set Ventures, Giant Ventures, Touring Capital, Prosus, Phoenix Court, and Northzone. The round follows a Series A of more than $100 million raised less than a year ago, also led by NEA and Temasek.
CuspAI said the new capital will support expansion across the United States, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. The company has opened a new office in Singapore and has staff in Cambridge, Amsterdam, Berlin, Tokyo, and the United States.
Besides, CuspAI launched its AI Materials Foundry, a global network of data, laboratories, computing resources, and scientific expertise aimed at accelerating the discovery of new materials.
The AI Materials Foundry has more than 45 founding partners across the United States, Asia-Pacific, and Europe, including NVIDIA, Meta, Samsung, South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Group, Henkel, Applied Materials, Tokyo Electron, and Lam Research. The network can connect companies, laboratories, and researchers to jointly design materials that do not yet exist.
Josh Coyne, Partner at Kleiner Perkins, said most major technology advances depend on new materials. CuspAI’s platforms stand out thanks to its focus on materials that can be manufactured rather than theoretically modeled, the executive added.
Philip Chopin, Managing Director and Head of Europe at NEA, said materials discovery has profound implications across semiconductors, energy, and advanced manufacturing. CuspAI’s ability to connect frontier AI with physical-world constraints has attracted leading industrial partners, the executive noted.
