Samsung Electronics plans to invest $1 billion in new capital in Vietnam in 2026, after cumulative investment in the country reached $24 billion by end of 2025, CFO of Samsung Electronics Park Soon Cheol said to Vietnamese Minister of Finance Ngo Van Tuan at a meeting in Hanoi last week.
In a statement regarding the meeting, Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance quoted Park as saying that Samsung is also developing medium and long-term investment plans in Vietnam, focusing on electronics, display, and electromechanical sectors, with plans to continue expanding its investment scale.
Samsung has invested significantly in training local companies, technology transfer, and high-tech workforce development through programs including Smart Factory, supporting industry exhibitions, and operating Samsung Innovation Campus laboratory facilities. Samsung will continue to train high-tech human resources and provide technical consulting to help Vietnamese enterprises with global-standard technology capabilities join Samsung’s supply chain, Park added.
In reply, Finance Minister Ngo Van Tuan welcomed Samsung’s expansion of Samsung Innovation Campus talent development centers in Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen provinces of Vietnam. He called on Samsung to cooperate with Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training and Ministry of Science and Technology to expand research networks leveraging high-quality human resources at Vietnamese universities and research institutes.
The finance minister also urged Samsung to continue supporting Vietnamese enterprises in participating further in Samsung’s global value chain.
Samsung currently operates six manufacturing plants, one research and development center, and one sales entity in Vietnam. The South Korean chaebol’s operations in Vietnam generate annual revenue of more than $60 billion.
