Malaysia’s property firm Malton has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with NVIDIA cloud partner Ricloud to establish artificial intelligence (AI) compute centers in Malaysia.

Malton said in a bourse filing on Tuesday that with the intention of tapping into the rapid growth of data centers, cloud and AI-related computing demand, Ricloud proposes to collaborate with Malton to jointly promote Ricloud’s services in Malaysia before expanding to the neighboring Southeast Asian regions by leveraging on Ricloud’s NVIDIA Cloud Partner (NCP) status and AI expertise in establishing AI Compute Centers.

An AI Compute Center is a specialized data center facility engineered to support the demanding computational needs of AI workloads, such as training large machine learning models and running real-time inference.

Ricloud is an AI cloud infrastructure provider based in the United States that provides secure, sovereign and scalable cloud infrastructure to AI industry leaders, hyperscalers and government entities.

The firm is an official NCP that is certified in the areas of NVIDIA Enterprise Software, Networking and Compute and has access to advanced NVIDIA technologies, including GPU-accelerated clusters, high-performance interconnects and NVIDIA AI Enterprise Software.

Under the MOU, Ricloud will secure and bring in tech companies, with emphasis on and prioritizing large scale global tech companies, to invest in and set up AI Compute Centers in Malaysia.

It will provide the required technical know-how, knowledge and expertise in relation to the design and plans for the AI Compute Centers to be constructed.

To provide AI server procurement, NVIDIA GPU Clusters and NVIDIA Solutions to the AI Compute Centers will be constructed in line with NCP rules.

Ricloud will also participate in the project financing of the AI Compute Centers, if required.

Meanwhile, Malton will assist the investors in identifying suitable locations for the AI Compute Centers and if required to assist the investors in the acquisition of the land.

It will also assist in dealing with local authorities in the applications and securing local approvals and permits for the construction of the AI Compute Centers; and to be the main contractors for the construction, completion, testing and commissioning of the AI Compute Centers including any ancillary facilities and infrastructure works required.

Once the Investors are identified, where required, both Ricloud and Malton will mutually agree on the applicable terms and conditions on a case-by-case basis, depending on the requirements of the respective investors.

Where required, Ricloud and Malton will subsequently enter into the requisite definitive agreements relating to the proposed collaboration suited for each of the investors.

The MOU enables Ricloud and Malton to formalize their respective roles and intention in relation to the proposed collaboration before proceeding further with the exchange of information and securing of potential investors.

The project represents an opportunity for Malton and its subsidiaries to participate in the growing demand for cloud and AI-related computing as well as data centers .
