China’s Zhongji Innolight is studying a large-scale high-tech project in the Yen Phong II-A Industrial Park in Vietnam’s Bac Ninh province, with an estimated initial investment of approximately $800 million on around 30 hectares of land, expected to create jobs for around 20,000 workers once operational.
The firm delivered the proposal during a working session with Bac Ninh People’s Committee Chairman Pham Hoang Son on Monday. The factory can become the firm’s biggest facility in Southeast Asia, while its current largest manufacturing facility is currently located in Thailand, the firm added.
Singapore-based Terahop, a subsidiary of Zhongji Innolight, recorded a revenue of $5.4 billion in 2025 and a production capacity of 1.5 million items per month.
The firm aims to make the investment in Yen Phong II-A industrial park in Bac Ninh province.
A key requirement raised by Zhongji Innolight is stable power supply for production, with the project requiring approximately 4,000 cubic meters of water per day and maximum electricity capacity demand of 150 to 300 MW across expansion phases. Bac Ninh Vice Chairman Pham Van Thinh said the province’s current power capacity stands at approximately 3,300 MW.
Listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE) under the ticker 300308, Zhongji Innolight specializes in researching, developing, and manufacturing high-speed optical transceivers used in data center connectivity networks, AI computing systems, mobile telecommunications networks, and long-distance transmission infrastructure.
Bac Ninh is currently one of Vietnam’s major electronics manufacturing hubs, home to Samsung, Goertek, Luxshare, Amkor, and other companies in the semiconductor supply chain. The province has around 80 companies in the semiconductor industry chain and has attracted nearly $50 billion in foreign direct investment from 44 countries and territories.
