Chinese electronic firm Hisense and East Timor have signed strategic cooperation agreement, joining hands to advance digitalization and sustainable development.

Hisense said in a statement on Thursday that the two parties will focus on key areas such as smart energy, smart homes, digital education, automotive electronics, and smart transportation to accelerate the deep integration of Hisense’s advanced technological achievements with practical application scenarios, helping to elevate local urban management and public service standards.

It is noted that the signing of this strategic memorandum not only builds an efficient platform for enterprises of both countries to deepen economic and trade exchanges but will also further enhance the friendship between China and East Timor, propelling common development to a higher level.

Recently, Indonesia and East Timor have successively chosen Hisense as a key partner for the implementation of their national development strategies.

The recognition highlights Hisense’s progress in technological innovation, industrial expansion, brand development and long-term strategy, while supporting its efforts to deepen its presence in the ASEAN market.

Currently, the ASEAN region, as a core strategic area for the group, has become one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic core regions in Hisense’s global layout.

Over the past three years, Hisense’s compound growth rate in the ASEAN region has reached 18.7 percent, with the Hisense brand business achieving a compound growth rate of 27.4 percent.

From January to April this year, Hisense’s brand business in the ASEAN region grew by 37.7 percent.

Leveraging advantages such as localized operations in research and development (R&D), manufacturing, sales, and services, the firm said it continues to expand in ASEAN markets like Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

This strategic cooperation with East Timor also marks another important milestone in Hisense’s deep cultivation of the ASEAN market and its accelerated global development.

In the future, Hisense said it will continue to export leading technologies, products, and solutions.

Under the strategic cooperation frameworks with Indonesia, East Timor, and others, the firm said it will solidly advance project implementation to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, jointly writing a new chapter in digitalization and sustainable development, and contributing greater strength to promoting regional economic development and cultural exchanges.

Located at the easternmost tip of the Indonesian archipelago, East Timor is one of the youngest countries in Asia.

It officially joined ASEAN in October 2025, becoming its 11th member state.

As a vital member of the emerging Southeast Asian market, East Timor is accelerating its economic diversification and modernization process, according to the statement.
