LS Eco Energy, under South Korean chaebol LS Group, will supply power cables for a large-scale AI data center project in Vietnam developed by telecommunications giant Viettel Group.
In a statement on Thursday, LS Eco Energy said the move is part of its plan to expand the presence in Southeast Asia’s AI infrastructure market. The firm’s manufacturing subsidiary in Vietnam’s Hai Phong city, LS-VINA, will supply the project, one of northern Vietnam’s largest AI infrastructure developments, the firm added.
The facility in Hanoi, with a total capacity of 60 MW, will serve the growing demand for generative AI and cloud services. LS Eco Energy’s products for the project will connect the power grid, the data center, and substations.
In August 2025, Viettel kicked off the construction of its An Khanh data center in Hanoi, one of two hyperscale data centers of Viettel in Vietnam. The project has an investment of VND17,500 billion ($664 million) and covers 1.9 hectares.
The other hyperscale data center of Viettel is the 140-MW Tan Phu Trung in Ho Chi Minh City.
LS Eco Energy CEO Lee Sang-ho said the AI data center market is evolving beyond server competition into competition over power and telecommunications infrastructure. LS Eco Energy plans to strengthen its push into the global AI infrastructure market with ultra-high-voltage cables and power and optical communication solutions for data centers, the executive added.
