China-based tech giant Huawei has launched its new AI Lab & Innovation Center in Kuala Lumpur, which is set to serve the whole Huawei Asia Pacific Region.

“Our new AI Lab and Innovation Center spans 13,638 square feet and will be Huawei’s first AI-enabled industry incubation base in Malaysia,” Wind Li, Global Vice-president of Huawei said in his speech.

“This center will be an important platform to support the next wave of innovation in Malaysia, where we can combine our technology and global experience to work effectively with our customers and partners on industry solutions and localised AI solutions for Malaysian industries,” he added.

The AI Lab and Innovation Centre will also serve as a strategic showcase window for Huawei’s Asia-Pacific Headquarters, aimed at achieving greater engagement with Government and industry leaders across the Asia-Pacific region, Li said.

“Through this effort, we aim to fully support Malaysia’s goal of becoming an AI-driven nation and regional leader by 2030,” he added.

The new facility offers ample space to demonstrate Huawei’s latest solutions and use cases for digital and energy transformation, to encourage wider and deeper collaboration on innovation and ecosystem development among Huawei, its customers and industry partners and to enable closer engagements between industry, R&D and education stakeholders to train more Malaysian AI talents, information from a Media Briefing Book showed.
