The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) to support maritime decarbonization and digitalization efforts globally.
The partnership brings together UNCTAD’s trade development mandate and Singapore’s experience as a leading global hub port, to advance the adoption of alternative fuels and digital solutions for ports and countries at different stages of readiness, the duo said in a statement on Wednesday.
Under the MOU, MPA and UNCTAD will work together to share knowledge and best practices in areas such as sustainable finance and manpower development.
It will also include capacity building and technical training for developing countries to strengthen their maritime capabilities and port resilience.
