Japan-based Cybozu, a collaborative office software company known for its Kintone platform, has committed an initial $6.4 million investment to expand its operations in Malaysia.
In a release on Wednesday, Cybozu said the expansion is part of its a broader strategy with Southeast Asia as its most promising region for global growth. The move follows a strong result of revenue at $240.06 million in 2025. Growth was driven in part by its Kintone platform, which generated $138.72 million in revenue, also up 33.9% year-on-year.
The company plans to accelerate digital transformation among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with Malaysia serving as its Southeast Asia headquarters. CEO Yoshihisa Aono emphasized that the region offers strong growth potential, particularly in Malaysia and Thailand, where demand for digital solutions is increasing.
Cybozu aims to align its expansion with the Malaysian government’s 13th Malaysia Plan, as Malaysia’s digital economy is projected to reach between $45 billion and $70 billion by 2030. The investment will support infrastructure and adoption of digital tools among local businesses, according to Cybozu.
As part of its regional expansion, Cybozu is investing further in its Malaysian headquarters to support Southeast Asia operations. The company is also advancing initiatives tied to Kintone AI Lab and its collaboration with the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation.
To support local adoption, Kintone will roll out Malay language support across its platform, along with the CRM Suite launched in February 2026.
