The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) opened the GreenBiz HK campaign in Bangkok on Wednesday, promoting collaboration between Hong Kong and Thailand in green economy.
In a statement on Wednesday, the HKTDC said the event featured a forum, thematic sessions, networking activities and business matching meetings, with more than 550 representatives from government and business sectors in Thailand. The forum focused on areas including green finance, green technology, supply chains and sustainable smart city development, with an emphasis on strengthening economic ties between Hong Kong and Thailand.
Highlighting international cooperation in addressing environmental challenges, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt stated that the transition to a green economy requires partnerships and coordinated efforts across both public and private sectors. The forum can serve as a platform for connecting Hong Kong’s capabilities with Bangkok’s development goals, the governor added.
The event also focused on cross-border collaboration in sustainability and innovation, Hong Kong’s green finance capabilities, financing tools’ role in supporting corporate environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives, green technologies, smart city solutions, decarbonization strategies, and Thailand’s experience in renewable energy and environmental technologies.
Participants also discussed regional supply chains and low-carbon construction practices, with speakers sharing updates on Thailand’s smart city initiatives and opportunities for collaboration.
The campaign forms part of the Economic and Trade Express (ETE), a platform designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises and start-ups in expanding into overseas markets while encouraging investment in Hong Kong. A networking luncheon, supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Bangkok, was also held.
In addition, a Hong Kong Green Team delegation met with Thai industry organizations and companies, including the Thai Green Building Institute, the Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand, WHA Industrial Development and TPI Polene Public Company Limited, to explore potential partnerships.
