Organized by Digital Penang and supported by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) , agency under the Ministry of Digital and Cradle Fund, the Penang Digital Economy Summit 2025 will gather the nation’s foremost corporations, technology startups, SMEs alongside key government stakeholders in an unprecedented public-private alliance that elevates Penang as Malaysia’s premier launch-pad for next-generation innovation ecosystem.

The DEMP and summit will be officiated by the Chief Minister of Penang, Chow Kon Yeow. The summit will take place on Aug 9 2025 at G Hotel Gurney, Penang.

This national alliance underscores a collective commitment to translate Malaysia’s MADANI Digital blueprint and the Penang2030 vision into tangible on-ground initiatives, offering direct benefits to Penang’s communities, businesses, startups and future workforce.

On the theme Collaborate on Opportunities, Shape the Future, Lazada, the PDES 2025 Platinum Partner, will lead hands-on workshop and showcasing products under the Lazada platform, while a wider roster of solutions including 5G solution, AI, fintech, digital game, greentech, and others will also be featured in the exhibition space.

The summit also hosts six specially designed breakout panel sessions that are moderated and panelled by experts and experienced professionals in their respective industry. These sessions will provide key insights, best practices and trends that will be shaping the landscape of digital economy for businesses, startups, community and new generation of workforce in Penang.

The Penang Chief Minister commented, “This strategic convergence of state agencies such as Digital Penang, federal agencies, and prominent private enterprises empowers Penangites by attracting greater investment, driving innovation, nurturing a robust talent and tech-founder pipeline, and enhancing access to homegrown innovations, technology, and infrastructure.”

In conjunction with the summit, PDES 2025 will also host the ceremonial unveiling of the Digital Economy Master Plan (DEMP) 2025-2030, highlighting a strategic roadmap actively backed by the state of Penang and federal stakeholders and key partners of innovation and technology ecosystem, solidifying their collective collaborative commitment to Penang’s long-term digital economy ambitions.

Attendance at PDES 2025 is free and open to SMEs, startups, investors, academics, and members of the public through a simple online registration process at pdes.digitalpenang.my/register. Seats are limited for the breakout sessions, and participants are encouraged to register by 31 July 2025. There is also an exhibition featuring solutions from startups in Penang and SMEs that are open to public from 10am to 5pm.

Registered participants will enjoy access to over 6 breakout sessions, starting from 2pm to 430pm, that are divided into key themes in this summit, namely AI, cybersecurity, digitalisation of SMEs, investments and fund raising, digital talents for industries and future opportunities for the new generation.
