Indonesian sovereign wealth fund Danantara Indonesia has inked a landmark memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), paving the way for financing opportunities aimed at accelerating Indonesia’s transition toward a green, digitally connected economy.

Danantara Indonesia said in a statement on Friday that under the MoU, both parties will identify and co-develop priority projects in decarbonization and the circular economy, including renewable energy, power transmission, water and wastewater management, and sustainable digital infrastructure such as green data centers, as well as healthcare.

The agreement also opens up a range of financial instruments—including debt, equity, guarantees, and other tailored solutions—to support the development of large-scale,
strategic projects across Indonesia.

The MoU marks another milestone in Danantara Indonesia’s international partnership strategy.

With several flagship projects already facilitated in the first half of 2025, Danantara Indonesia said the fund continues to drive Indonesia’s long-term development agenda through innovative, sustainable investment.

Danantara Indonesia, officially known as Badan Pengelola Investasi Daya Anagata Nusantara (BPI Danantara), is an Indonesian legal entity owned by the Indonesian government.

The institution is mandated to undertake strategic investments as well as operations of state-owned enterprises (SOEs).
