MEASAT Global Berhad (MEASAT), a Malaysia-based spacetech solutions provider, has secured the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center’s (IN-SPACe) authorization to offer its satellite services in India through NewSpace India Limited (NSIL).

With IN-SPACe’s authorization, MEASAT is now able to offer space-based communications and broadcasting services in the Indian market, in line with requirements of the Indian Space Policy for foreign satellite operators, the duo said in a statement on Tuesday.

Through NSIL, MEASAT offers satellite capacity to pay-TV operators and broadcasters in the Indian market, facilitating the distribution of over 600 TV channels and reaching over 11 million direct-to-home (DTH) customers in India, as well as supports video content distribution across
Asia, Australia, Africa and Southern Europe.

MEASAT is a spacetech provider offering satellite solutions across Malaysia, Asia and Australia.

The firm’s satellites at the prime 91.5°E hotslot facilitates the distribution of DirectTo-Home TV channels to over 20 million viewers across the region.

It offers a wide range of customized services from cellular backhaul and corporate networks to high-speed broadband internet.

It also serves as an authorized reseller of Starlink services, further expanding its reach and capabilities.

NSIL is a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Department of Space, and India’s satellite operator with 12 in-orbit communication satellites and close to 10000 MHz bent pipe satellite capacity and 40000 MHz HTS capacity deployed over India.
