Hong Kong-based insurer AIFT and Taiwan-based insurer Shin Kong Life have signed a strategic cooperation agreement on Thursday to enter Vietnam’s digital insurance.
The duo said in a statement that this partnership signifies a joint commitment to transform Vietnam’s digital insurance market through AIFT’s IXT modern digital insurance capabilities alongside Shin Kong Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Shin Kong Vietnam) and their robust local distribution channels and operational expertise, hence, creating a pioneering hybrid insurance ecosystem.
The collaboration began with AIFT’s involvement with the FinTechSpace Taiwan, an initiative supported by the Taiwan Financial Regulatory Commission.
Under the mentorship of Chairman Mark Wei, both parties have developed a strategic collaboration in entering Vietnam’s digital insurance space, initially targeting Taiwanese enterprises and individuals, with the aspiration to also meet the insurance needs of local Vietnamese and broader Southeast Asia in later phases.
AIFT brings its cutting-edge digital insurance SaaS system, IXT, to the partnership.
Featuring a modular architecture, open integration, and automated rule engine, IXT is designed to swiftly adapt to local market requirements by building insurance workflows, enhancing policy admin efficiency and customer experiences.
The synergy between IXT’s digital-first functionalities and Shin Kong Vietnam’s market acumen will bring the vision of a seamless online-to-offline (O2O) digital insurance service model to life.
At its debut, Shin Kong Vietnam has joined hands with PetroVietnam Insurance (PVI), the market leader in general insurance in Vietnam, to launch personal protection products including car, travel and health insurance.
Leveraging IXT core’s low-code product templates and workflows, Shin Kong Vietnam is launching its business with a digital insurance application journey which was built from scratch within three months, aiming to introduce more scenario-based, commercial as well as group insurance products later.
Shin Kong Vietnam also plans to further collaborate with Dai-Ichi Life Vietnam Branch.
Under this cooperation framework, AIFT and Shin Kong Vietnam has selected Chunghwa Telecom Vietnam Subsidiary as its strategic partner for data center and cloud infrastructure services to expedite localization deployment and ensure cybersecurity standards.
This tri-party collaboration is a stellar example of cross-border synergies between Taiwanese and Vietnamese enterprises in shaping a new digital insurance landscape to better serve different customer segments.
“Shin Kong Life has been actively seeking innovative partners with technical capabilities and market experience. AIFT not only possesses a highly flexible technical platform but also the capability to establish operations in the Vietnamese market,
“We believe this cooperation will mark an important step in the internationalization of Taiwan’s insurance technology,” said Mark Wei, Chairman of Shin Kong Life.
Michelle Ip, Chief Executive Officer of AIFT Enterprise, stated that as a tech enabler, the firm has always believed insurance could be made simpler, more accessible, and closer to life through technology adoption and innovation.
She noted that AIFT aims to connect insurers with offline and online digital players to create an unprecedented digital ecosystem.
