Indonesia-based digital ecosystem PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GoTo) has on Monday announced a strategic collaboration between its on-demand services unit Gojek and Google Maps, that will significantly enhance the mapping experience for its consumers, driver-partners, and merchants.
GoTo said in a statement that the collaboration combines two powerful forces: Gojek’s real-time on-the-ground data and Google Maps’ advanced geo-technology.
Building on a longstanding collaboration with Google Maps Platform, this advancement will enable GoTo to optimize navigation, reduce delivery times, and strengthen discoverability for micro, small, and medium enterprises merchants (MSMEs) on the Gojek app.
“At GoTo, we believe that collaborating with global technology leaders like Google is key to driving innovation that benefits our consumers, driver-partners, and merchants,” Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo, President, On-Demand Services (Gojek), GoTo Group.
“As a proudly homegrown company, we are deeply attuned to the needs of Indonesians,
“By combining Gojek’s real-time on-the-ground data with Google Maps’ cutting-edge geo-technology, we will deliver a superior mapping experience that enhances efficiency and accessibility for millions of users across Indonesia,” she added.
Meanwhile, Yael Maguire, Vice President, General Manager, Google Maps Platform, Google, said the firm’s collaboration with GoTo will help ensure that millions of people in Indonesia have access to fresh and factual information about the world in Google Maps and in GoTo’s on-demand services.
“As a technology-driven company, GoTo actively seeks collaborations that drive innovation and create greater value for its users,” he added.
It is noted that as Gojek serves millions of consumers every day, the company generates critical real-time data points that provide deep insights into mobility patterns and road conditions.
By leveraging this data, Gojek continuously refines its navigation systems to create a more seamless and efficient experience for driver-partners and consumers alike.
By integrating this with Google Maps’ advanced geo-technology, including real-time traffic analysis, the collaboration will enable smarter route optimization, reducing delivery times and improving efficiency.
Additionally, both companies will work together to enhance destination selection, searchability, and pickup/drop-off experiences, ensuring a smoother, more intuitive journey for users and driver-partners.
As part of its efforts to enhance the discoverability of MSME merchants through Google Maps and Google Business profiles, Google will collaborate with GoFood to educate and onboard merchants onto Google Business Profiles.
This will ensure more accurate address listings and greater visibility for merchants, strengthening the digital footprint of Indonesia’s small businesses.
By making it easier for consumers to find and order from them, this initiative reinforces GoTo’s ongoing support for MSMEs.
As Indonesia’s largest digital ecosystem, GoTo continues to expand its expertise through strategic collaboration that enhance efficiency, empower MSMEs, and drive business growth.
The collaboration between Gojek and Google Maps builds on existing efforts to innovate across the business, leveraging technology to scale, optimize operations, and redefine how people experience our services, while delivering greater value for businesses and users.
