Malaysia-based telecommunication firm CelcomDigi Berhad has on last Friday announced a strategic collaboration with Malaysia’s electric vehicle (EV) charge point operators, JomCharge and Yinson Greentech’s chargEV to accelerate the deployment of EV charging points across the country.
CelcomDigi said in a statement that through this collaboration, CelcomDigi via its Innovation Centre, together with JomCharge and chargEV, will install over 100 EV charging points in commercial areas, including shopping malls and street locations, as well as residential areas, by the end of 2025.
This initiative underscores CelcomDigi’s commitment to supporting Malaysia’s EV ecosystem while delivering sustainable solutions for its customers.
CelcomDigi’s Chief Innovation Officer Kugan Thirunavakarasu, said as the EV market in Malaysia continues to grow rapidly, the company recognizes the urgent need to expand the charging infrastructure in the country and enhance accessibility to EV charging points, making it easier for Malaysians to adopt sustainable mobility solutions.
“We are excited to collaborate with both JomCharge and chargEV to expand our service offerings beyond telecommunications by integrating connectivity and green tech solutions into the everyday life of our customers,” he said.
According to him, the firm’s commitment to make EV services more accessible aligns with its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives and climate goals, reinforcing our efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote clean energy adoption in Malaysia.
“At the same time, this initiative allows us to reward customers who choose to contribute to ‘green’ causes while minimizing environmental impact,” he added.
Meanwhile, EV Connection’s Managing Director Lee Yuen How said that firm is delighted to collaborate with CelcomDigi to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in Malaysia by expanding the JomCharge EV charging network in both public and residential spaces.
“With our expertise in EV infrastructure, combined with CelcomDigi’s digital innovation, we aim to make EV charging more seamless, reliable, and accessible for all Malaysians,” he added.
ChargEV’s Managing Director ST Chua added that at chargEV, the firm aims to deliver a seamless and reliable EV charging experience.
“Through our strategic partnership with CelcomDigi, we are accelerating EV adoption by leveraging their extensive customer base and expanding access to charging infrastructure,
“Our goal is to eliminate range anxiety by building a robust, convenient, and seamless charging network—ensuring EV drivers can charge with confidence, anytime and anywhere,” he said.
