Malaysia-listed engineering services company AIZO Group Berhad (formerly known as Minetech Resources Berhad), has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with energy firm Netrunner Sdn. Bhd. to explore the development of a Tier 4 Data Centers Park in Sarawak, the East of Malaysia.
AIZO said in a statement on Thursday that the MoU will bring together the strengths of each party to ensure the successful development of the data centers.
Netrunner, a special purpose vehicle focused on attracting investments for a data centers park in Sarawak, will lead the technical development and design of the Tier 4 Data Centers Park, ensuring it meets global standards in security, energy efficiency, and reliability.
Subsequently, AIZO will play a key role by providing infrastructure support, including the development of clean energy solutions and water treatment facilities to ensure the sustainability of the data centers’ operations.
This collaboration marks a significant step in Sarawak’s digital transformation, with the development of the Tier 4 Data Center Park serving as a key infrastructure piece to enhance the state’s digital economy.
By delivering secure, high-performance data management capabilities, the project is set to drive technological innovation, attract new investments, and bolster economic growth in the region.
Earlier on Thursday, Netrunner also signed a separate MoU with MUT and Syarikat SESCO Berhad (SESCO) during the IDECS 2024 event, reinforcing the importance of this collaboration in aligning Sarawak’s digital infrastructure with the state’s vision for technological advancement.
“This MoU is a significant milestone for all parties involved, and we are excited to contribute to Sarawak’s advancement into the digital age,
“Working alongside the Sarawak Government and Netrunner, we believe that the Tier 4 Data Centers Park will become a cornerstone for the region’s digital infrastructure,” said Abang Abdillah Izzarim, the Executive Chairman of AIZO.
He also said the group is proud to play a role in supporting the growth of Sarawak’s digital economy and ensuring that this project has a lasting positive impact.
“This collaboration aligns with AIZO’s strategic vision of leveraging cutting-edge technology and sustainable solutions to create long-term value for our stakeholders,
“We remain committed to our goal of driving innovation and supporting Sarawak’s digital ambitions,” he added.
The signing of this MoU also represents AIZO’s maiden venture into the data center industry.
This strategic move marks a key step in the company’s diversification into digital infrastructure, a rapidly growing sector that presents significant growth opportunities.
By entering the data center market, AIZO said the firm is positioning itself to meet the rising demand for secure and efficient data management solutions, while reinforcing its commitment to innovation and sustainable development in Sarawak.
