Singapore-based carsharing platform GetGo and electric vehicle (EV) platform Charge+ have teamed up to enable greater accessibility to shared and sustainable mobility in Singapore’s condominium market.

This exclusive partnership aims to significantly enhance EV accessibility for Singapore’s condominium residents by introducing GetGo’s EVs along with Charge+’s EV charging infrastructure, giving them access to an eco-friendly transportation alternative right at their doorstep, the duo said in a statement on Monday.

According to the statement, GetGo and Charge+ aim to provide 100 condominiums with combined shared EVs and EV charging points by 2025.

It is noted that Singapore’s urban landscape is set for a major transformation, due to changing attitudes toward car ownership by younger generations and the development of the EV charging infrastructure.

Cited a Straits Times survey, the duo said car ownership aspirations dropped from 65 percent in 2016 to 50 percent in 2022, due to high costs, public transportation improvements, and the rise of convenient and sustainable transportation options like carsharing.

In addition, the number of EV charging points across Singapore continues to grow as there are now 7,100 as of July 2024.

This growth reflects the continued development of the EV charging infrastructure under the Singapore Green Plan 2030, which includes installing 60,000 EV charging points on public and private premises.

According to the statement, GetGo and Charge+ will leverage their expertise in vehicle fleet management and charging point installation to provide condominium residents with direct access to GetGo’s integrated offering of shared EVs and Charge+’s EV charging infrastructure.

This partnership also provides a stronger incentive for condominium management to implement EV charging stations to not only serve the growing EV driver population in condominiums but also to provide on-demand access to GetGo’s shared EVs.

This collaboration is aligned with the Singapore government’s commitment to creating a more sustainable urban environment.

“As Singapore’s largest carsharing operator with over 3,000 vehicles across more than 1,700 locations, we’re pleased to partner Charge+ to enable condominium management with access to EVs and charging points,” said Toh Ting Feng, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of GetGo.

“As our transportation landscape continues to evolve, there’s a clear shift in the demand for EV carsharing,

“We’re pleased to play our part in supporting the Singapore Green Plan 2030 and look forward to working with Charge+ to provide accessible and sustainable mobility options for condominium communities and residents,” he added.

Goh Chee Kiong, Chief Executive Officer of Charge+, said that as the largest EV charging provider for condominiums with about 1,000 charging points, they are excited to partner with GetGo to bring its electric carsharing service to their condominium partners.

“This initiative will provide further impetus for condominiums to support the proliferation of EV charging infrastructure, not only to serve residents who own EVs, but also residents who do not own an EV but need a sustainable transportation option,” he added.

According to the statement, GetGo and Charge+ will continue to expand their EV carsharing and charging services to more condominiums across Singapore, providing their residents with a one-stop solution to their sustainable transportation needs.

Building on this effort, GetGo will also launch a new feature by the fourth quarter of 2024 that provides onboarded condominium developers with secured access to carsharing vehicles within their properties that are exclusively for residents.

Condominium developers with exclusive access to GetGo’s shared EVs and Charge+’s EV charging points can optimize their parking infrastructures and lot allocation by reducing the number of owned vehicles and carpark lots required.
