Singapore-based insurtech firm Igloo has forged its first mobile partnerships with China-based consumer electronics manufacturers OPPO and realme to offer after-sales care in Southeast Asia.
Igloo said in a statement on Thursday that as the exclusive partner of both brands for their protection and after-sales service across the region, Igloo enhances OPPO Care and realme Care+ offerings and enables a smoother customer purchase experience through both online and offline channels.
The partnership has launched in Singapore with OPPO and in the Philippines with realme, with plans to roll out into other markets, including Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand progressively.
The collaboration also makes after-sales services, previously only offered offline, available for purchase from OPPO and realme’s official websites and various distribution channels.
With a vast network of offline retail stores, and a substantial online customer base, product registration and distribution can be challenging to manage from the backend and may lead to delays in claims processing.
Igloo’s expertise in business-to-business-to-consumer (B2B2C) business model allows OPPO and realme customers to seamlessly access and purchase official protection plans through a dedicated customer portal that automatically synchronizes with the smartphone brands’ databases for real-time updates.
By simplifying registration through a QR (quick response) code that directs to the customer portal, Igloo streamlines the process, which not only makes the distribution more efficient but also elevates the in-store experience for customers.
“Igloo is committed to ensuring accessibility of insurance products that address emerging risks from the digital lifestyle of consumers today,
“OPPO and realme have a variety of smartphone products that cater to wide audiences, which helps Igloo champion its mission of insurance for all with enhanced accessibility through our partner-friendly API capabilities,” said Raunak Mehta, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Igloo.
Cited GSMA, Igloo said smartphone penetration rates in Singapore and the Philippines are expected to increase to 96 percent and 90 percent respectively by 2030.
It said this surge in smartphone adoption highlights how mobile insurance should be more easily accessible and straightforward.
It also said mobile devices are more likely to get damaged than any other electronic device in Southeast Asia, a region where the purchase of a device is viewed as a significant investment for consumers.
Igloo takes aim at protecting against the risks of an increasingly digital-first lifestyle.
