Wanted: Tech Reporter
TechNode Global is looking for Technology Reporters to join its digital newsroom to provide insights and in-depth journalism shaping the Asia technology scene. The job can be based across Southeast Asia.
We are a fairly small company who seek to emulate the companies and people we write about. We believe in cultivating a sense of ownership in all our employees, giving them the support, resources, and autonomy to bring their vision to life.
About you
- Based in SEA and have a degree in Journalism, Mass Communications or in related field
- Have at least 2 years’ experience in journalism (English)
- Demonstrate strong interest and curiosity in the tech industry
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in delivery of content
- Skilled at communicating across cultures. Knowledge in one or more Southeast Asian local language is a bonus
- Have existing professional and personal of local & regional contacts to leverage on in order to deliver content that is credible based on accurate sentiments on the ground
- You are persistent and don’t get discouraged by slowing momentum or setbacks. You realize that every story has a life of its own; just because it takes awhile to get the perfect quote or find the right angle, you understand that good stories take time
What you’ll do
The Technology Reporter will be an integral part of TechNode Global expansion strategy. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating original content which is engaging, descriptive, and prescriptive. We are a growing team so you’ll likely get involved in a little bit of everything, but here are some of the main things you’ll be doing:
- Sourcing, pitching, and writing stories about APAC’s technology and startup ecosystems
- Communicating with the editorial team about stories, sources, and deadlines
- Contributing to editorial discussions and direction
- Think critically and write/edit timely and accurately
- Keep up to date with the latest developments in the industry
- Build up personal and professional contacts across the industry to arrange for exclusive interviews and scoops
- Responsive during work hours and maintain constant communication with editor(s)
